A personal collection

Loss. Grief. Healing. Growth.

The book grew from Tam’s own experiences and the role writing played in helping her process difficult experiences.

Roots explores themes of loss, grief, healing, growth and resilience through Tam’s lived experiences.

The poems hold moments of pain and uncertainty alongside the possibility of hope, personal strength and new beginnings.

Behind the words

Writing what was difficult to say aloud

Writing became one way for Tam to sit with experiences of change, grief and rebuilding. The poems began from her own life rather than from a wish to give others instructions about how they should feel.

That distinction matters. Roots is a personal record: one person’s words, one person’s experience, and an invitation to pause with the themes they hold.

Words by Tam

Poetry shaped by Tam’s own experiences of loss, identity and change.

The themes within

A personal record of finding a way through

The anthology returns to ideas that also shape New Roots: what we carry, what changes, what helps us stay connected to ourselves and where hope can begin.

Loss

Making room for what has changed.

Identity

Remembering the self beyond one experience.

Resilience

Noticing strength without denying difficulty.

New beginnings

Allowing possibility to exist alongside grief.
