Meet Tam
Tam Allen is a Mental Health Counsellor from the Swansea Valley, South Wales.
At the age of 40, Tam became a below-knee amputee. Her own experience of limb loss led her to study Counselling and Psychotherapy, after not wanting to be defined simply by being an amputee.
Today, alongside her counselling work, Tam has a particular passion for supporting people experiencing the emotional difficulties surrounding limb loss.
Her aim is simple: to support people as they navigate change, loss and the journey towards finding themselves again.

Personal experience.
Tam understands that limb loss is not only a physical change. It can affect identity, confidence, relationships, emotions and how we see ourselves. Her own experience gives her a personal understanding of the journey, alongside her professional training in counselling and psychotherapy.
You are more than what has changed.
Limb loss can bring grief, uncertainty and changes in identity, confidence and everyday life. There is no single way to feel and no timetable for adjustment.
Counselling can provide emotional support as you make space for what has happened, explore acceptance in your own time and begin finding a new sense of self.
